The committee of the CYAA is proud to announce that once again the trustees of the Joe White Bequest have pledged their support for the CYAA Cup Regatta in 2025.
Joe White’s name is synonymous with Yachting in Australia in particular Victoria. From beginnings on Lake Wendouree in Ballarat he would go on to campaign a succession of yachts from the pen of Charlie Peel named Acrospire that would compete for the prestigious Sayonara Cup in 1928, 1930 and 1931.
He was a long serving Commodore of the St. Kilda Yacht Club, later the Royal Melbourne Yacht Squadron (RMYS).
The Joe White Bequest was formed in 1959 following Joe White’s passing. The trust aims to provide distributions to Victorian hospitals and other benevolent institutions.
The CYAA will mark the support of the Joe White Bequest or the 2025 Cup Regatta through the awarding of Joe White Bequest trophies recognising the restoration and maintenance of classic yachts and boats.
