SASC – Gaffers Day 2026

The CYAA congratulates the Sydney Amateur Sailing Club for its running of the biennial Gaffer’s Day Regatta for 2026.

By all accounts it was a marvelous day on the harbour that celebrated the craftsmanship and  sailing of a magnificent array of classic yachts on Sydney Harbour, as well as allowing traditional boat sailors to mingle and to enjoy each  others company.

An entry list of well over 70 boats and 200 participants was testament to the interest and resurgence of classic yachting in Sydney and all involved are to be congratulated for the effort they put in to ensure the success of this regatta.

Attending from the CYAA was President Craig Brown who was on hand to present the trophy to the boat that was considered to best restored and maintained vessel participating. This was presented to Michael Cassidy owner of the 30′ sloop, Samiel.

Heavily involved in the organisation of this event was CYAA committee member Phillip Brown, who has been instrumental in increasing the awareness and membership of the CYAA in Sydney.
