The third running of the CYCA’s Great Veterans Race is to be run on Saturday 9th May, 2026.
This years event will see a fleet of around 20 classic yachts grace Sydney Harbour with the qualifier that they must have competed in at least one Sydney Hobart Yacht Race, or be invited by the committee..
Two divisions will run in 2026. The ‘Classic’ division is open to boats launched prior to 1976 and the ‘Modern Classic’ division is open to yachts launched after 1975 but prior to 1996. This change has been made so the GVR categories will match those in this year’s 81st Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race.
