04 June, 2026 – Melbourne
An early call out to CYAA members and friends to note in their calendars the 2026 CYAA Cup Regatta to be sailed on the waters of Port Phillip from Friday October 31 to Monday November 2.
This year is a triple treat of celebrations being the 20th running of the Cup Regatta, the 30th year since the formation of the Classic Yacht Association of Australia and the 150th anniversary of the founding of the Royal Melbourne Yacht Squadron (formerly St. Kilda Yacht Club) who will be the host of the Cup Regatta in 2026.
The event will again include a welcome function on the Friday night in the atmospheric shed of CYAA supporters Wendy and Ferdi Darley of F. J. Darley Traditional Shipwrights.
On the water participants will enjoy the Tumlaren Challenge on the Friday afternoon pitting international and interstate teams against one another in the 1930’s one design Tumlaren fleet; a series of 3 races races on the Saturday and Sunday, and an optional casual race on the Monday for those who wish to be involved.
Again we will welcome “Modern Classics” and hope to encourage additional boats to this division to enjoy the proceedings.
For those looking for a more relaxed option to take in the racing, Jim Woods’ fastidiously maintained cray boat, Margaret Pearl will provide a comfortable viewing platform on which to take in the action.
As is the custom, an invitation will be extended to our friends at the CYANZ, and we hope to see many of them in Melbourne once again.
CYAA member, David Allen has produced a fantastic poster for this event, we thank Dave and are sure that copies will be keenly sought.
Further details and entry information will be posted soon, so mark it in your diary now for the Melbourne Cup weekend.
