Last Call – CYANZ – Perpetual Guardian Classic Yacht Regatta 2025, Auckland

21-23 February, 2025 – Auckland

The CYANZ invites all CYAA members to participate in their annual peak regatta, the Perpetual Guardian Classic Yacht Regatta, to be held 20-23 February 2025 in Auckland. The format is a welcome dinner on the night of Thursday 20 at the RNZYS club rooms, one race on the Friday afternoon, a full day’s racing on Saturday and Sunday (typically two races per day) and a presentation dinner on the Sunday night.

Visitors will be allocated to yachts according to needs requested by skippers and we’ll try to accommodate any preferences you have. A sail on one of their big gaff riggers such as Waitangi or Thelma has to be experienced.

If you wish to take your own classic yacht to New Zealand, you’d be heartily welcomed too. Non-sailing partners are very welcome.

CYAA sailors compete for the Trans Tasman Trophy – the visiting CYAA sailor with the best overall results.

Those who’ve been before can attest to the wonderful hospitality offered by our Kiwi compatriots and the excellent fleet of classic yachts active in Auckland.

If you are planning on going, please advise our co-ordinator for this regatta, David McKenzie below.

For those attending it would assist greatly if you could provide your preferred email and phone number while in NZ, your flight details and where you’ll be staying. In addition please advise if you with to attend the Thursday night dinner at the RNZYS and how many will be attending.

At the regatta, David and the CYANZ’s Iain Valentine will manage boat allocations and Iain will manage scoring for the trophy.

We currently have at least 8 people traveling to Auckland for the regatta. If you aren’t one of these, consider confirming your place pronto.

The CYANZ requires final numbers by the 10th February, so please RSVP by Sunday the 9th.

Details on the event are available from the CYANZ website details.
