A prelude to the time-honoured Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race, the Sydney Hobart Classic Yacht Regatta recognises the contribution that classic yachts have made to the blue water classic, this year celebrating its 79th edition.
The regatta has developed into a must-do on the Australian Classic Yacht scene and will be run over three days commencing with an invitational race on the Friday afternoon.
The regatta will comprise two divisions, one for yachts launched before 1976 that have competed in the Sydney Hobart Yacht Race. Entry to other classic yachts will be at the discretion of the organising authority.
A second division will cater to IOR era yachts launched from 1976-1990 which have also competed in Australia’s premier blue water event.
