2023/24 Sayonara Summer Series Race 1 pre-race notes

Here we go

CYAA Sayonara Summer Series is set to proceed as scheduled

Race one Sunday 8th Oct 10:25am
Warning signal for Div three

As we go to press fifteen entrants are all set to go for race one.

Go to a last chance series entry.

To be eligible for inclusion in the series result, and a crack at the inaugural Sayonara Summer Series trophy, a boat has to be a series entrant. Having said this, race by race casual entrants are supported.

Division three will be off first at 10:30 am followed at five minute intervals for divisions two and one.

Summer Series race documents

We’re using the RMYS Website as the single source for all race management documentation.

Classic Race Documentation and details can be found on the RMYS “Classics – Documents, Results and Start Sheets” page. The special classic page can also be accessed via the RMYS Race Documents page

This Classic page then provides access to:

  • Classics Official Notice board
  • Notice of Race
  • Sailing Instructions
  • Start Sheets and Results
  • Course Descriptions (with Race Sign-on and Results QR codes)
  • Course Track Maps

Other RMYS sailing events this Sunday.

We have the RMYS Two Handed series fleet with us on Sunday. They will start at 10:00am. Except for the finish line, a two handed course will be selected up to minimize the use of the same rounding marks. The two handed fleet will be notified of the classic race.

Our post race social scene

The team on Mercedes IV will be tieing up to the RMYS marina post race. Bring a selection of your post race victuals and sad stories.

One sad note

In spite of BOM current strong wind warning the Sunday forecast looks a shocker as far as wind strength goes.

Let’s hope the BoM are wrong again. The last thing we want is to abandon our first race.

Race Management Notes

In the RMYS tower on Sunday, your Classic Race Officer (aka handicapper) will be assisted by Chris Crellin. A call has gone out from both the CYAA and RMYS for someone to put their head up to assist on the RMYS Rescue Boat, William Paterson.

STOP PRESS: the William Paterson deckie call for Sunday has been answered plus a possible next race help out in the tower. Your race officials will be doing a Crossing the Delaware re-enactment in the RMYS work boat.

RMYS volunteer roster

RMYS has included the summer series classic fleet into their race support volunteers roster. If we can find some classic people to help out race management wise on a longer term basis we can save our skippers the extra burden of finding race management volunteers. It’s as if finding crew is not a problem. Hardly.

Busy weekend on the water

All club race season opening day celebrations 7th October.

That’s all the pre race one news

Race One: 10:30am 8th October at RMYS

Regards to all
Peter Costolloe
CYAA (Vic) Handicapper
