It was sad (for Victorian members) to see the Ernest Digby designed and built 8mR Frances being loaded on to a truck for transport to Sydney this week.
After a number of years of inactivity she has been given a zhoosh up, including a deck re-caulking and coat of paint by the team at F J Darley Traditional SHipwrights, before heading up the Hume Hwy to Rushcutters Bay where she will join her elder sister the 8mR Defiance (also designed and built by Digby).
Whilst sad to see her leave, the important thing is that she will be sailed and fastidiously maintained by her new owner.
On hand to see her go was the grandson of Ernest Digby, CYAA and RYCV member Peter who no doubt found this an emotional experience.
We wish her well in her new home.
