3-5 April, 2026 – Sorrento, Victoria
Yet another opportunity has presented for CYAA members in Victoria to participate in destination sailing. In an effort to expand members sailing options the President and committee have been active in pursuing opportunities for members through other traditional boat affiliations. The Sorrento Regatta held by the Sorrento Sailing and Couta Boat Club is one such initiative.
The Sorrento Regatta was always sailed in the waters off Sorrento pier during Easter, spanning 22 years from 1892 to 1914.
By 1909 the Sorrento Regatta had become a great success and was widely regarded as one of the most successful regattas held outside of Melbourne.
No regatta was held in 1915 as war in Europe raged. The curtailment of leisure activities was seen as a mark of respect to those serving.
Since the rebirth of this iconic event in 2017 the Sorrento regatta has gained momentum and is now enjoyed on Easter Saturday, with associated festivities over the Easter weekend.
The SSCBC has graciously extended an invitation to CYAA members to participate in the regatta with special divisions for CYAA Classic Yachts and Modern Classics being established.
This is a great opportunity for CYAA members to make the trip down to the bottom ho the bay, and to enjoy some of the spectacular sailing and hospitality it has to offer.
To entice some of our larger yachts a special deal has been negotiated with the Marina at Blairgowrie Yacht Squadron for a strictly limited number of 15m berths at a rate of $122 per night (no minimum stay), but these must be reserved fairly quickly with Easter traffic on the Peninsula sure to be hot. The SSCBC also has a range of swing moorings available for participants but again you will need to reserve these fairly promptly.
This is an important event for our members to get behind, especially if we wish to see a greater number of boats from further down the bay get involved in CYAA events such as the Cup Regatta.
The regatta festivities will kick off on the Friday evening with a drinks evening at the Club planned along with a guest speaker.
Get onbaord and enjoy an Easter with a difference this year.
Details are available through either the SSCBC or the Club Capatin Richard Martin here.
