CYAA Cup Regatta 2025 – Day 1

They’re off and running, the Cup Regatta kicked off today with the Tumlaren Tussle, pitting teams from interstate and New Zealand against one another. Not since the heady days of the Sayonara Cup has Port Philip seen such hostile inter-colonial action on the water (OK so I’ve got carried away a bit).

Three races were held in light 5-8kt winds. It was the crew from Tasmania, Peter, James and Jodie, who showed the others what sailing one-design classic yachts is all about, clean sweeping the series 3 zip. Congratulations on what was a masterful display of light weather sailing against some pretty gun sailors. Second was the Queensland team, albeit loaded with a few Mexicans, with third going to the New Zealand team, coming to terms with a new boat. Rounding out the results was the Victorian team, staying consistent with most economic markers at present.

Well done to all!
