RMYS – 2025 Tumlaren Victorian State Titles

05 April, 2025 – Melbourne

Last weekend (29/30 March) saw the Royal Melbourne Yacht Squadron (RMYS) host the 2025 edition of the biannual Tumlaren Victorian State Titles.

Both days saw challenging conditions with 1-2m swells on Port Phillip and winds of 15-25 knots keeping participants honest.

A total of 6 of the Knud Reimers designed 1930’s one design class Tumlare/Tumlaren greeted the starter after a couple of late withdrawals. Saturday’s racing saw Yvonne (97) make a clean sweep of both races with the minor placings being shared between Dingo (200), Snow Goose (309) and Charlie Salter in Skipjack (322).

Sunday saw the conditions deteriorate slightly. Peter Bannerman in Zephyr (318) was forced to retire with spreader damage. Whilst Dave Allen in Yvonne (97) again showed the fleet a clean set of heels it was George Low in Snow Goose (309) who took the chocolates on corrected time. Jim Hutchinson in Dingo (200) and Yvonne (97) rounded out the minor placings.

The next State Titles will be in 2027.

A run down of the event and a great selection of images is available from Southern Wooden Boat Sailing here.

2nd – Dingo (200) J Hutchinson- 7.0 pts
